More Diverse groups

Well we started our daytime Diverse group for adults with disabilities today and wow, what talented individuals we have.  We always feel so honoured to be working with such members and we can tell this is going to be another thriving group.

Meanwhile, our Wednesday evening group is getting ready for their show a week on Saturday.  It was looking great tonight and the costumes and set have come on in leaps and bounds.   The show, 'Not the Wizard of Oz' but similar will be this groups 3rd show in a year and we're so proud of how far they've all come.

Pantos come to an end

Well tonight is the last show of our three pantos, that started back in December with the first show.  Three groups, three different pantos, all equally as fun and rewarding, though it will be nice to have a break from custard pies for a few months!

We're busily expanding our Diverse groups, for adults with learning difficulties/disabilities and this is really exciting for us.  Our first group got to capacity quite quickly, so onwards and upwards.

Our residential project that began in September has just secured it's third round of funding which will take us through until the end of August.  This is such brilliant news and the project continues to go from strength to strength.

Christmas Approaches

Well what a few months it has been.  We've undertaken many shows, most recently two pantomimes which both played to full houses.  We were so proud of all our members for what they achieved, not only as groups but as individuals.

We began work at another out of school club and are enjoying the sessions being skills and not performance focussed.  It keeps us on our toes!

The snow has had a bit of an effect with one groups performance which will now be in January but this has been to our benefit as it's enabled us more time in the studio, getting the members used to the new space.

We're hoping to have some time off over the festive period but with 3 new scripts demanding our attention by the end of January we may find a lot of our celebrations in the office.

A new term and some new beginnings

Well we're back from our brief but happy holiday and ready and raring to go.  Work begins tomorrow afternoon on our residential project.  Unfortunately due to some of the funding being withdrawn because of a change in Government, we are now sourcing other areas to continue this project after Christmas.  Yet we are positive in our outlook as we know the huge benefits of this work and will get on with completing more funding forms.

On Thursday this week we begin our pilot project in a local special needs school which will lead to the formation of the new Inclusive Youth Theatre Club which will begin officially at the end of the month and see us spending the first term working towards a Christmas Celebration.

Well, off to catch up with the emails now that await us and make final preparations for tomorrow.

Funding and beyond

We've recently been successful in securing some funding bids with other organisations, which is going to be great working with so many fantastic people.  Amongst the projects, we'll be undertaking some taster sessions in a special needs school in September to showcase their talent in a mini performance and also doing some open air summer workshops for local children.

It's great to have so many varied opportunities to work with people and different client groups and we're very greatful to those who helped make the projects come to fruition and of course to those for providing the funding.  Very exciting times ahead.

Our York group for adults with learning difficlties/disabilities has just completed its second week.  Once again we are privaleged to be working with such amazing people.  We are including the use of narration in the show for them as one member is excelling in this area of acting.

As we head towards Easter and lighter nights, new projects are underway.  Our work in the Army Barracks has begun with a highly energised group of youngsters and preparation for summer projects has already started.

We completed a sell-out run of a pantomime with a local community group and are now he

It's been a busy week.  We have contracts pending in Selby and Goole, so lots of preparation to do for those.  We're going to be running an adult taster theatre class in a few weeks as part of a drive to help adults get  back into learning so some focus is going onto that.

Our Wolds Wonders session went really well this week.  We have a show on March 31st and we're doing 'Musical Magic' with lots of favourite songs chosen by the group.  They particularly loved the dancing to 'Baltimore', a real feel good song to begin the show.  The committee are busy organising fund raising events and we'll be helping put a mini performance together for their coffee morning to be held at the Arts Centre.
